The Subject Matter Expert for Scope 2 contributes technical expertise to develop standards and resources related to Scope 2 and corporate energy sourcing, integrating scientific research into actionable standards.
This role involves working closely with senior and cross-functional teams to ensure outputs are robust and aligned with best practices, embodying SBTi’s values and fostering a positive work culture.
This role is key in defining credible corporate sourcing of zero-carbon energy and integrating it into SBTi Standards.
Ideal candidates: dedicated, mission-driven individuals with expertise in renewable and zero-carbon energy concepts and standards.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing subject matter expertise for SBTi’s technical outputs related to Scope 2 and energy sourcing;
* Collaborating on drafting, reviewing, and finalizing standards and guidance;
* Monitoring emerging trends, research, and policies;
* Preparing and delivering presentations, webinars, and workshops;
* Collaborating across departments to maximize impact;
* Serving as a contact for external technical partners.
Essential skills and experience:
* 7+ years in relevant fields, with expertise in standard-setting, GHG accounting, and decarbonization, especially in zero-carbon and renewable energy;
* Proven track record of delivering responsibilities on time and to high standards;
* Experience in research, data analysis, and synthesizing complex information;
* Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences;
* Proficiency in relevant tools and software;
* Expertise in market-based instruments for energy systems;
* Strong project and team management skills;
* Experience in multi-stakeholder processes;
* Knowledge of standard-setting organizations and ISEAL Codes (preferred).
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract based in London, with potential extension. Candidates must be legally permitted to work in the specified countries, as SBTi does not sponsor visas.
