Operations Manager – Solar PV Installations – North of England to Midlands – Field Based Take charge of renewable energy projects in the North and Midlands Axon Moore is working with a leading renewable energy business to recruit an experienced Operations Manager to oversee Solar PV installation projects. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys leading teams, solving problems on site and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. Salary: £60-70k basic plus company car, fuel expenses and an annual 10% bonus Location: Based anywhere in the North; travel across the North and Midlands around 3 to 4 days per week with overnight stays covered Reports to: Operations Director Why this role is exciting Lead multiple field teams and subcontractors on projects that make a real difference. Key responsibilities Health, safety and environment Promote a strong health and safety culture across all sites Ensure teams follow company HSE policies and legal requirements Carry out regular site audits, toolbox talks and incident investigations Maintain accurate documentation including CPPs, risk assessments and daily records Lead by example, ensuring all team members use the correct PPE Drive continuous improvement in safe working practices, particularly at height Operational management Manage multiple Solar PV installation projects from planning to handover Oversee around four field teams per week Maintain clear communication with clients and resolve issues on site Optimise resources and materials to reduce waste and unnecessary costs Conduct final inspections and ensure correct project handover Support effective use of company systems and processes Financial and commercial focus Manage project budgets and control costs Review planned versus actual performance and highlight variances Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs Spot potential to offer additional services or upgrades to clients Reconcile materials and logistics costs accurately People management Lead, motivate and support field-based teams Conduct one-to-one meetings, provide feedback and identify development needs Manage recruitment, performance and development of team members Encourage teamwork, accountability and a positive working culture Skills and experience required Proven operations management experience in construction, engineering or renewable energy Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets Excellent knowledge of health and safety, including working at height Ability to lead multiple field teams and subcontractors Confident communicator with strong organisational skills Flexible and willing to travel across the North and Midlands Qualifications SMSTS (5 Day) CSCS Card IPAF IOSH (1 Day) NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (desirable) Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project What is on offer £60-70k per year depending on experience Company car and fuel expenses 10% annual bonus linked to project performance On-the-job training and development opportunities A chance to play a key role in a growing renewable energy business If this is the role you have been looking for, please send your CV today to or call (phone number removed) for further information.
