An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Turnaround Officer to join our Youth Justice team at Hampshire County Council.

The Role:

The Youth Justice Service (YJS) a multi:disciplinary team which works with children aged 10 :17 years old who are at risk of offending or re:offending and subject to a range of community and custodial interventions; including delivery of Prevention services.



Prevention intends to positively impact local areas, aiming for:


:Lower levels of criminal activity
:More children engaged in positive activities
:Families receiving more support
:Improved outcomes for children and their families


As a Prevention Officer, you will manage a caseload of young people on the periphery of offending but also those who may be subject to bail support and/or who are released under investigation on voluntary basis.



You will work closely with our Police staff, Youth Justice Service colleagues and other professionals to ensure that the child and their families are included in a holistic assessment and support process.


What you'll do:

In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting vulnerable young people by developing and delivering early intervention and prevention programs aimed at reducing the risk of offending. Working closely with schools, families, children's services, and community partners, you'll identify those most at risk and provide tailored support to help them thrive.



You'll conduct thorough assessments to understand each young person's needs, risks, and strengths, and offer one:to:one mentoring and guidance to help them make positive choices. You'll also design and facilitate group workshops on key topics such as decision:making, peer pressure, and emotional regulation, empowering young people to build resilience and confidence.



Your work will involve monitoring and evaluating the impact of interventions, maintaining accurate case records and reports, and promoting engagement in education, training, and community activities. You'll advocate for young people's rights and needs within the justice and social care systems, contribute to multi:agency meetings, and actively participate in safeguarding processes.



Staying informed on youth justice policies, local trends, and best practices will be essential to ensure your approach remains effective and responsive to emerging challenges.
