Job Description:
At Nudge Education and Nudge Minds, we know that every child is unique. That's why we focus on supporting one child at a time. We believe every child matters and deserves to have a life worth living.
Can you help us on our mission to ensure every child can live a Life Worth Living?
Who we are:
We are Nudge Education.
Last year in the UK, around 90,000 young people were persistently absent from education. This needs to change.
We exist to ensure that children who are chronically disengaged from education are never left behind and can receive life-changing support, guidance, and mentoring to help them thrive.
Who we need:
We are looking for compassionate and innovative Practitioners who are passionate about inclusion and can create a safe environment to inspire young people to see the value in education again. The key to what we do is focused on creating a strong connection with our young people. We need people who don’t give up at the first hurdle; those who can think and deliver with inventive imagination. We need inspiring individuals who can broaden the horizons of our students and show them that life is worth living.
Our network of practitioners come from many backgrounds, including Education, Academia, Healthcare, Uniformed Services, creative industries, sports clubs, and more. This diversity helps us make the perfect match to our students, giving each intervention the best chance of success. It is not always the professional experience that makes you a good match; awareness of trauma or complex medical needs similar to those of our students, whether professional or personal, is also valuable. The work you do with our young people will change their lives.
The role:
You will work on a 1:1 basis (or 2:1 with support). Your work may not be within a traditional classroom; instead, the environment and community knowledge will be key to successful intervention design. You’ll need to think on your feet and adapt to circumstances, always prioritizing the student’s needs. You will have support from peers and regional hubs for resources and advice. Working with Nudge Education provides a collaborative environment with flexibility and resources to make a real difference.
The practicalities:
You will work on a flexible contract, with interventions offered based on location and student match. Compensation ranges from £11.44 - £25.00 for lead roles plus expenses.
You should be available during daytime hours, Monday to Friday, with consistent weekly availability to ensure stability.
Key duties and responsibilities:
* Designing interventions to support academic engagement and meeting provision targets
* Reporting progress, behavioral presentation, and safeguarding concerns
* Conducting risk assessments to ensure safety
* Occasional attendance at multi-agency meetings
* Staying updated with education trends and official guidance
Qualifications and experience (desirable):
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
* Safeguarding qualification within the last 12 months
* Qualification in therapeutic disciplines (counselling, mental health first aid, CBT, etc.)
* Training in de-escalation techniques within the last 12 months (CPI, Team Teach, etc.)
* Experience working with students with SEND, SEMH needs, or related fields
* Enhanced DBS certificate (recent or on update service)
Skills and abilities (desirable):
* Ability to build relationships with young people in crisis
* Knowledge of learning disabilities and conditions like ADHD, PDA, ASD
* Understanding of the National Curriculum and key stages
* Driving license and own vehicle preferred
While relevant qualifications are desirable, a genuine heart for working with disengaged children is essential.
Safeguarding: We adhere to strict safeguarding policies and conduct thorough background checks.
