Manufacturing Crane Operative
Location: JRL Trent Precast Manufacturing Site, Skelmersdale
Working hours: Monday – Friday, 7am – 5pm
Pay rate: £13 - £14 (Subject to experience)
JRL Trent Precast are looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Manufacturing Crane Operative to join their manufacturing team on a permanent basis at their Skelmersdale site. This role is critical to the safe and efficient movement of precast concrete units throughout the production and storage areas. Previous experience operating cranes in a precast, manufacturing, or construction environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities of a Mnaufacturing Crane Operative
7. Operate crane safely for lifting, placing cages, steel, and precast units safely within the manufacturing site.
8. Carry out lifting operations in accordance with lift plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
9. Safely attach, sling, and secure loads using appropriate lifting equipment and accessories.
10. Assist with concrete pours, ensuring correct placement and coordination with the team
11. Carry out daily checks and support safe lifting operations in the yard and factory.
12. Conduct daily pre-use checks on cranes and lifting equipment, reporting any defects immediately.
13. Ensure all lifting operations comply with health and safety regulations and site procedures.
14. Maintain clear communication at all times, including the use of hand signals and radios where required.
15. Support general production and yard activities as needed to meet operational demands.
Key Requirements of a Manufacturing Crane Operative
16. Valid crane operator certification relevant to the equipment used (e.g. CPCS, NPORS, or equivalent).
17. Proven experience operating cranes within a precast concrete, manufacturing, or construction environment.
18. Strong understanding of lifting operations, load weights, and safe working practices.
19. Experience with slinging and signalling
20. Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
21. Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused approach to work.
22. Physically fit and able to work in an industrial environment.
