Our principal consultant Robin Thomas is keen to talk with time served craft apprentices and trained machine shop engineers, about an exciting opportunity to join a UK based manufacturer of precision-engineered pumps and associated systems, serving customers all around the globe.
As a Service Centre Machinist, youll support the service in house capabilities for both pump & valve refurbishments. Operating various manual machines including lathe and vertical boring machines, the Service Centre Machinist will produce parts from both draw and sample, as well as repairing parts where required.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Turning majority of machining on manual centre lathe producing shafts, sleeves, spacers, etc.
2. Machining cast parts to drawing such as; impellers, bearing housings, casings
3. General milling including keyways and slots
4. Vertical borer machining valve bodies, pump bowls, pump casings etc.
5. Remove and replace case wear rings and bushes
6. Liaise with workshop personnel at all levels
Skills & Experience
7. Time served craft apprentice/trained machine shop engineer using conventional lathes, drills, mills, etc.
8. Confident using measuring equipment and reading engineering drawings
9. Relevant qualification to NVQ Level 3
10. Service knowledge & understanding of rotating equipment
11. Good problem solving skills and a high attention to detail
12. Valid driving licence
