Division Overview
Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for the laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Utilizing the latest advances in computer technology, the Division maintains millions of dollars of state-of-the-art automated equipment at its laboratory sites and services hospitals, nursing homes, the Montefiore Medical Group, faculty practices, and voluntary physicians' offices at more than 40 sites.
Responsibilities
* Daily evaluation and assignment of technical work. Direct work processes throughout the shift.
* Perform technical or clerical work as necessary.
* Test, reagent, and equipment quality control to assist/perform process/procedure validation as necessary.
* Perform personnel scheduling. Prepare and/or review payroll (if designated Kronos user).
* Perform staff training & resident teaching.
* Ensure that work is performed accurately and in a timely fashion.
* Perform annual competency assessments and/or performance evaluation of technical staff.
* Assess blood inventory, inventory of reagents and supplies and order blood as necessary.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree required.
* NYS Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.
* To qualify for a supervisor position, as per NYS DOE, 4 years of bench experience as CLT required (2 years could be substituted for a master's degree in Science or Arts).
* Understand the dynamics involved in running a massive transfusion protocol.
* Experience with neonatal transfusion.
* This position is located at the Moses campus in the Blood Bank lab. It is a per diem position where the shifts will be day or evening depending on departmental needs.
