About the Job
This is a key role within the large Payroll team, responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. You will support the end-to-end payroll process while working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve departmental objectives and maintain high service standards.
This opportunity is particularly suited to an up-and-coming payroll professional who is keen to further develop their expertise within a fast-paced environment. You will be confident, open-minded and a quick learner, able to adapt to new processes and systems with ease.
Duties will include:
1. Processing and checking payroll data submissions from various areas of the business
2. Administering statutory payments, deductions, and pension contributions
3. Managing attachment orders, student loans, salary sacrifice schemes and related adjustments
4. Handling overpayments, manual calculations and year-to-date amendments
5. Supporting RTI submissions, auto-enrolment activities and year-end processes
6. Responding to payroll queries from employees, internal teams and external bodies
7. Producing payslips, earnings statements and required documentation
8. Assisting with reconciliations and third-party payments
9. Processing BACS recalls, CHAPS and faster payments where required
10. Contributing to process improvements to enhance accuracy and reduce risk
11. Supporting compliance with HMRC and relevant legislative requirements
12. Participating in cross-training and development across the payroll function
About the Successful Applicant
You will have proven payroll experience with a strong understanding of statutory payments, deductions and compliance requirements. Confident in using Microsoft Excel, you demonstrate excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work.
A collaborative team player, you communicate effectively at all levels, show resilience when working under pressure and are capable of managing a consistently high volume workload. Above all, you are committed to delivering a high standard of accuracy and customer service.
