Lead Occupational Therapist – Wheelchair Services
Band 6‑7 Development opportunity may be available if all essential criteria not met.
You will be a Lead for the Northern Lincolnshire Wheelchair service, in collaboration with cross‑site Wheelchair services for NLAG. This may involve cross‑site cover and support. You will be based at Scawby House, Brigg but clinically working from community locations across Scunthorpe. You will also work closely with the Equipment services based at CES and ALC.
The purpose of this post is to provide a high standard of Occupational Therapy service undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and provide leadership to a defined team of staff as well as working jointly with the other team leads across the service(s).
Your responsibilities will include leading the Northern Lincolnshire Wheelchair services in collaboration with cross‑site Wheelchair services for NLAG.
You will work with complex patients (adults and children) with a range of presenting conditions and link with the wider multi‑disciplinary team as needed. You will see individuals in a range of settings such as own home, care setting or outpatient clinic. You will provide highly specialist assessment and a range of interventions to prescribe specialist seating and wheelchairs to support independence. You will carry out a range of manual handling tasks using required equipment and techniques.
You will lead and manage a small team of registered and non‑registered staff and will work as part of the wider Wheelchair services cross‑site to ensure coordinated and effective day‑to‑day delivery of Wheelchair services. You will lead on identification and implementation of service improvement and carry out the various people‑management elements of the team‑lead role, following local relevant policies. You will provide clinical leadership to this team and support and supervise the staff within it to carry out their roles.
