Overview
Band 8B Assistant Clinical Lead Role (ACL) - Permanent. Clinical Psychologist only. This is an opportunity to lead and develop the Eating Disorders Team (EDYS) at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, in collaboration with partnership agencies and the Clinical Lead and other ACLs, with line management of the MDT. The post supports strategic development and delivery and sustainability of the service. The role requires working with mental health, education and council partners and engaging across organisational boundaries. We are seeking a motivated and confident individual with a passion to improve children and young people’s mental health services.
Responsibilities
* Assistant Clinical Lead is a key member of the EDYS Community Division Mental Health Services Leadership Team and will be responsible for the clinical management of the MDT and for providing clinical supervision to assigned clinicians.
* Support clinical, strategic and performance leadership for the service and undertake responsibilities delegated by the Clinical Lead, including designated areas of service development and leadership tasks aligned with the Service and Trust vision.
* Clinically, provide clinical supervision and operational supervision to ensure the team delivers high-standard clinical interventions.
* Provide line management and supervision in collaboration with the Clinical Lead as appropriate.

Job responsibilities – Clinical Management / Leadership and Governance
* To support team members to case manage, assess, treat and discharge children and young people effectively.
* To ensure appropriate data is completed by clinicians within their MDT (e.g., Routine outcome measures and other clinical documents).
* Review the caseloads of MDT members.
* Oversee safe use of equipment and resources.
* Conduct appraisals of staff within the team (Performance & Development Reviews).
* Identify training needs and coordinate continuing professional development in conjunction with the wider Leadership team.
* Provide clinical supervision support to staff from their own and other services/teams as agreed with the Clinical Lead.
Qualifications and experience
Education & Training
* Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent pre-1996) and registration with HCPC.
* Post-graduate training in a recognised therapeutic specialty and registration with UKCP/HPC or equivalent.
* Further training/study in relation to specialist supervision within CAMHS.
Desirable
* A recognised and appropriate management training or equivalent.
Experience
* Extensive experience of working in specialist CAMHS.
* Extensive experience of leading multidisciplinary teamwork and supervising a MDT.
* Experience of training/teaching staff and offering consultation to children, young people, families and partner agencies.
* Ability to supervise CAMHS workers and lead change initiatives; experience engaging with local support networks for children, young people and families.
Desirable
* Experience of strategic and business development of CAMHS provision and engaging staff in future service shaping and strategic visioning.
Knowledge
* Ability to analyse presenting problems in the context of the child and family and wider social context with a range of therapeutic perspectives.
* Understanding of legislation relevant to CAMHS provision and working with a multi-cultural, diverse population.
