Role Overview
A well‑regarded secondary school in Southampton seeks a Science Graduate to join the Science department on a long‑term basis. The role is ideal for a recent Science graduate who wishes to gain hands‑on, in‑school experience and is considering teacher training in the near future.
The position starts as soon as possible and will run until the end of July 2026, covering a long‑term staff absence.
Responsibilities
* Support teachers during KS3 and KS4 Science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
* Prepare, set up, and clear equipment for practical experiments
* Assist with demonstrations and practical activities in lessons
* Ensure equipment and materials are stored and used safely in line with health & safety guidance
* Maintain clean, organised, and safe laboratory spaces
* Manage resources and support stock checks of Science materials
* Gain exposure to classroom management, lesson structure, and teaching practice
Qualifications & Attributes
* Science graduate (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related degree)
* Interest in education and a potential future career in teaching
* Confident, organised, and enthusiastic in a school setting
* Proactive, professional, and strong communication skills
* Willingness to support students and teachers in a practical learning environment
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Previous school experience is desirable but not essential; the right attitude and subject knowledge are key.
