CNC Turner - Programmer / Operator / Setter
Purpose of the Role
To programme, set and operate a range of CNC lathes to the highest safety and quality standards, ensuring efficient and precise manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities

Programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes and milling machines (with a preference for turning experience).
*
Interpreting and working from detailed engineering drawings to produce accurate components.
*
Creating and maintaining layout sheets that document tools, setups, and machine parameters for repeatable and efficient production.
*
Working independently to consistently deliver high-quality results within specified deadlines.
*
Conducting self-inspections using appropriate measuring equipment and accurately documenting results.
*
Supporting and mentoring colleagues as needed, sharing knowledge and best practices.
*
Ensuring a clean, safe, and organised working environment while using the correct PPE at all times.
*
Actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including cost- and time-saving suggestions to supervisors.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
*
A time-served engineering apprenticeship is preferred but not essential.
*
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in programming and operating 3, 4 & 5-axis CNC machines.
*
Proficient in Fanuc (ISO) and/or Heidenhain controls. Knowledge of Mazak and other systems is a strong advantage.
*
Experience with large-scale machining operations and familiarity with machines such as Binns and Berry, VTL, and VTC is highly beneficial.
*
Overhead crane and manual handling training desirable.
*
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*
Friendly, reliable, and approachable with a strong team-oriented mindset.

Flexible and adaptable to meet the evolving needs of the business.
