To work as a team leader and deputise for the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse in line with the nursing framework and in accordance with the nursing philosophy of Ashford and St Peter's NHS Trust. Person Specification


Experience (Essential)

* Registered Nurse with the NMC
* IV Passport
* Post registration experience in a related field
* Experience in an acute setting delivering direct patient care

* Excellent knowledge of medication and IV therapies


Qualifications (Essential)

* 5 GCSEs A-C
* Mentorship Qualification


Skills (Desirable)

* Cannulation and Venepuncture

Main Duties


Clinical

* Provide safe, high-standard nursing care based on research and hospital policies.
* Assist in establishing, monitoring, and evaluating patient care standards.
* Plan and prioritize patient care, interpret observations, and report outside responsibilities.
* Investigate patient management issues, accidents, and complaints.
* Assist with clinical research and new equipment assessment.


Leadership

* Organize the department effectively, ensuring safe drug administration and equipment use.
* Maintain a safe environment, report incidents, and undertake investigations.
* Be competent in emergency resuscitation and familiar with fire procedures.
* Manage resources efficiently, attend meetings, and develop effective team links.
* Lead projects and improvements in nursing care.


Education

* Maintain a suitable learning environment, act as a mentor, and promote professional development.
* Encourage mandatory training and health education for patients and carers.
* Engage in personal continuing education and performance reviews.


Management

* Contribute to recruitment, conduct risk assessments, and health and safety audits.
