About Shooting Star Children’s Hospices
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices supports babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across Surrey and London. We provide a range of specialist care services, both at our hospices and in the community, tailored to each family’s needs.
Main Purpose of the Role
This role is a broad generalist role at both an operational and strategic level and will work with teams, managers and key stakeholders to help build organisation and people capability, and shape and implement effective people strategies and activities in line with the needs and priorities of Shooting Star Children’s Hospices (SSCH).
The role will be the key interface for implementation and delivery of HR initiatives and processes. You will translate the business needs into effective solutions and HR practices, keeping them in line with the business objectives, vision and values and ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance.
Main Responsibilities
Supporting the Director of People and Culture to achieve the People strategy aligned to the organisation strategic objectives and being the HR lead acting as Business Partner for allocated client groups, the HR/People Partner will build and sustain effective working relationships with managers, through regular engagement and quickly establishing trust and credibility as set out below:
1. Support the Director of People and Culture in the creation and implementation of the People Strategy.
2. Lead on HR projects aligned to the SSCH Strategy.
3. Build positive and credible working relationships with key stakeholders in order to act as a trusted partner and proactively identify future risks to people performance and workplace issues
4. Using data, metrics and evidence to inform and drive decision making and change across their business areas.
5. Offering expertise in all people areas, and dealing with employee relations escalated by the Associate People Partner
6. Questioning and challenging others to get to the root of people and business issues
7. Coaching and providing feedback to key stakeholders to help improve business efficiency.
8. Supporting the Director of People and Culture to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including union representatives, solicitors and external network groups.
9. Provide appropriate and tailored HR advice on a wide range of people activities, including but not limited to: recruitment and selection, employee relations, performance management, reward and recognition, staff development and training initiatives, health & wellbeing, policy management, employee engagement, equality & diversity
10. Review and understand people performance data from MyHR (i.e. attendance patterns, turnover information, recruitment statistics) and engage with the Director’s Team to implement any required changes and drive improvements
