Salary: £40,000-£50,000 based on experience.

Reports to: Rector

Direct Reports: Operations Manager, Finance Manager, Bookings Coordinator, Communications Manager.

About the Role

Our vision is to see every life bear fruit for Jesus, and that truly means every life. The Operations Director is a senior leadership role at the heart of this vision, responsible for keeping the church running smoothly and effectively enabling the many ministries to grow and reach more people. You will hold strategic oversight of compliance, governance, finance, buildings and HR, while inspiring and equipping the staff team to deliver our plans on the ground. You will also be a key challenger on the team, working alongside Team Heads to generate plans and reach strategic outcomes. If you’re motivated by efficiency, delivery vision and supporting change, we would love to hear from you. (And if you don’t tick every box but excel in key areas, please still apply. We’re open to shaping the role around the right person).

Key Responsibilities

* Leadership – Provide leadership on the staff team for day-to-day operations, while working alongside the Rector and Team Heads to generate strategy. Attend Standing Committee and PCC meetings, contributing strategically and operationally to our shared mission.
* Operational Delivery – Develop, implement and oversee systems, policies and processes to enable the smooth running of all church and charity activities. This will include new initiatives following completion of the building project.
* Compliance and Risk – Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, keeping abreast of changes. Oversee risk processes and the Operations Team to manage risk registers.
* Financial Oversight – Oversee the finance function, managing staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Work together to produce annual budgets, as well as supporting annual audit inspections.
* HR & People – Lead HR functions, including recruitment, administration, compensation & benefits, training & development, staff wellbeing and performance management. You’ll ensure our staff team are not only well-qualified for their roles but also supported to develop both professionally and spiritually.
* Project Management – Oversee specific projects as directed by the Rector and the PCC, helping bring vision to life. This may include the HTC Weekend Away, Focus, and future works post-Revitalise 250, our building project.

Who we are looking for?

We’re looking for someone who is organised, people-focused and excited about helping a church thrive. You don’t need to tick every single box - if you have relevant experience and a heart for the role, we’d love to hear from you.

* Strong written and verbal communication.
* Ability to manage and deliver projects.

* Project or event management experience.
* Proactive, organised and able to juggle responsibilities.
* Warm, collaborative and professional.
* Comfortable building relationships across staff, volunteers and trustees.
* Adaptable when plans change.
* Willing to play an active part in the worshipping life of HTC.
