The Head of Sales is an executive leadership role responsible for the overarching commercial strategy and performance of the Inbound, Outbound, and Admin sales departments. Working closely with the Sales Director, this role translates business vision into department-wide strategies, ensures cross-departmental alignment, and mentors the Sales Manager to drive operational excellence and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Leadership: Translate overarching business goals set by the Sales Director into actionable, department-wide sales strategies and revenue targets.
* Executive Mentorship: Directly manage, mentor, and set key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Sales Manager and Sales Team ensuring they have the tools to effectively run daily operations.
* Cross-Functional Alignment: Oversee the efficiency of the entire sales operation and ensure seamless collaboration with other core business functions (such as Purchasing, Product Innovation and Operations) to drive unified business growth.
* High-Level Market Strategy: Monitor broad industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to identify major opportunities for market expansion and provide strategic insights to key stakeholders.
* Executive Reporting: Take ultimate accountability for the department's revenue growth, reviewing sales forecasts and analytics to present comprehensive performance insights and budget compliance to the Sales Director.
* Sales Management Cover: Act as the primary point of leadership for the sales function in the absence of the Sales Manager, overseeing day-to-day sales activities, customer escalations, team management, and operational decision-making to maintain business continuity.
How youβll do it:
* Strategic Execution: Through a combination of data-driven strategy and executive oversight. Success is achieved by setting clear goals, providing the necessary coaching to your direct reports, and ensuring operational excellence across the inbound, outbound, and admin departments.
* Sales Experience & Commercial Acumen: Extensive sales leadership experience with a proven track record of delivering revenue growth, managing high-performing sales teams, and driving successful sales strategies. Able to leverage previous sales experience to identify opportunities, overcome commercial challenges, and support the team in achieving and exceeding targets.
* Leadership and People Management: Must be able to inspire, develop, and mentor the Sales Manager and broader sales leadership team to foster a high-performing culture.
* Analytical & Data Analysis Skills: Ability to analyse departmental sales data, interpret market trends, evaluate budget compliance, and create data-driven strategies for the executive team.
* Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure seamless alignment with colleagues across different departments (such as Customer Experience and Ecommerce), and to present clear performance insights to the Sales Director.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively identify and resolve high-level operational issues efficiently and effectively.
* Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), sales tools, and relevant industry software to ensure the system is driving pipeline visibility and performance.
