Position Overview
The CORNERSTONE Photonics Innovation Centre (C-PIC) team at the University of Southampton seeks an experienced PDK Engineer with a technical background in graphene and/or silicon photonics for the EU‑funded PIXEurope project. The role will be situated in our cleanroom facilities in Southampton, UK.
Responsibilities
* Develop the Process Design Kit (PDK) and characterise graphene on silicon photonics chips for the PIXEurope project.
* Attend European project meetings and represent the project at conferences and relevant events.
* Collaborate with the PDK team and internal process fabrication team to advance the CORNERSTONE platform.
* Embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion principles in all outreach, training and marketing activities.
* Support technical project management, device design and characterisation activities within the university environment.
Qualifications
* Experience in large European or equivalent consortia projects and photonics device design.
* Proficiency in mask layout and device characterisation.
* PhD in silicon photonics or graphene is desirable.
* Proven track‑record in PDK design with demonstrated experience in establishing a technology service is desirable.
