About the Role
Ratheane Care Home is recruiting an Activities Therapist to join a friendly, caring team. The role involves designing and delivering activities and entertainment programmes for residents and working closely with nursing staff to ensure a safe, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and implement a schedule of in‑house entertainment, outings, and group activities that are mentally and physically stimulating for residents.
* Collaborate with the Nurse Managers, staff and residents to ensure activities align with residents’ needs and interests.
* Obtain approval from the Nurse Managers before engaging external entertainers or service providers.
* Gather resident feedback regularly and incorporate their hobbies and interests into the activity programme.
* Maintain accurate records of all activities and events, both manually and electronically.
* Provide individual engagement activities for residents who prefer not to participate in group settings.
* Work effectively with a diverse and challenging resident group, respecting and maintaining a positive attitude.
* Ensure adherence to house rules, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment.
* Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents and visitors, working independently or as part of a team.
* Hold a full UK driving licence and use the company people‑carrier for resident transportation when required.
Essential Criteria
* Relevant vocational qualifications (achieved or working towards).
* Experience working with elderly residents suffering from dementia.
* Knowledge of the Care of the Elderly Patients Charter of Rights.
* Good command of written and spoken English.
Additional Requirements
* Right to work in the UK.
* Willingness to register with NISCC.
* Enhanced Access NI Check required for the post.
* Flexible to work weekdays and weekends (30 hours per week).
