Leasehold enfranchisement paralegal

London
Leasehold Legal Services
Paralegal
Posted: 9 February
Offer description

LLS are a firm of solicitors who specialise in statutory lease extensions. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Homehold, who are a valuation and project management company which assist leaseholders with their statutory lease extension or freehold purchase claims. Together with Homehold, we offer an end-to-end enfranchisement service; we do everything from reviewing the title, valuing the property, serving notice, negotiating the premium and completing the conveyancing work, and registering the new lease. We have a commitment to negotiating fair lease terms for our leaseholder clients. Our consistent five-star rating on Trustpilot and Google demonstrate our focus on offering fantastic customer service – so the client feels that their claim is looked after from start to finish. LLS prides itself on being different from the average law firm. Our key performance indicator is client satisfaction, so we do not time-record and we do not bill our clients based on hourly rates. Instead, we are committed to only taking on a manageable amount of work, which is completed on a fixed-fee basis. We have strong focus on work-life balance and our team works remotely with monthly travel.

The Role

We are recruiting a paralegal who has significant leasehold enfranchisement experience to work within our experienced enfranchisement legal team and help maintain our fantastic levels of customer service by providing day-to-day support to our client management teams. LLS has an active and fast-paced case load, and your support will be vital to growing our team. As you progress in your career there will be an opportunity to be promoted to Case Manager. If you aspire to qualify as a lawyer, we will support that after you have been working with us for twelve months.

Your key duties will include:

* Service of Section 42 Notices;
* Preparing and Submitting UN1 and UN2 Applications;
* Dealing with Deposit, Deduction of Title, and Access Requests;
* Dealing with Anti Money Laundering checks;
* Arranging Signature of New Leases;
* Arranging and Dealing with Completion and Completion Formalities;
* Post-Completion Tasks including Preparing and Submitting AP1s, Expedition of Registrations, Dealing with Requisitions.

You must have:

* At least one year of full-time equivalent work experience in a leasehold enfranchisement department or team – you should have experience of completing most (if not all) the tasks above
* A capability and interest in developing your skills and knowledge in the technical aspects of leasehold enfranchisement.
* A commitment to developing your own skills when faced with complex matters, as the business grows, and as Leasehold Reforms are implemented.
* Evidence of an enthusiastic interest in property law, and leasehold enfranchisement specifically.
* You will be task oriented, adaptable, and able to prioritise effectively in a busy work
* A right to work in the UK at the point employment commences, and a commitment to work from home in England and Wales.
* Within 2.5 hours “door to door” by train of Central London and willing to commute to monthly team meet ups.

Location

Post-Coronavirus the entire team are home-based, and we plan to stay that way. We will provide you with a computer and whatever is required to make sure your workstation is comfortable and productive. We congregate monthly in London for training and team-building.

Package

* 25 days of holiday, increasing by one day for every year of service up to 30 days plus normal bank holidays
* Share in the business’ success through a discretionary twice-yearly bonus (this is discretionary, but bonuses paid historically have equated to about 10% of pay)
* Funding for the CILEX or SQE course and exams, offered after the successful completion of your first year of employment as a paralegal
* Salary will be dependent on level of experience.

How to Express Interest

In the first instance, please email linz@leaseholdlegal.org for an informal and confidential discussion with one of our directors. In your email please either attach a copy of your CV, or write a few sentences setting out your experience working in the industry.
