This team is responsible for driving new business revenue through strategic telesales initiatives, managing key accounts, and supporting the overall growth of the Employee Benefits product line. The Opportunity
The Employee Benefits Sales Desk Manager role is an integral position within the UK Employee Benefits division. Over several years of consistent success, the Telesales team has been a significant contributor, and we aim to further enhance this team's capabilities to drive increased New Business revenue.
The Sales Desk Manager will be responsible for managing the Telesales Account Managers and overseeing the Sales Support Team Leaders. The goal is to foster a high-performing and motivated department. This role will be pivotal in setting the strategy for Employee Benefits Telesales, working with the National Sales Manager to establish targets, strategic goals, and manage key accounts.
Within Employee Benefits, the Sales Desk Manager will manage Telesales Account Managers, ensuring their activities meet sales KPIs. Success requires strong leadership, strategic planning, excellent communication, and the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage Telesales Account Managers and Sales Support Team Leaders using call monitoring and coaching to achieve targets.
* Forecast and develop annual sales targets, projecting expected sales volume.
* Achieve New Business and retention targets.
* Coach the team on MetLife products, sales skills, and operational procedures.
* Create and manage career development paths for team members.
* Recruit, retain, and evaluate staff performance.
* Ensure marketing materials are available and coordinate telemarketing campaigns.
* Assess market positions and recommend product/pricing changes.
* Manage targets for calls, appointments, follow-ups, and reporting.
* Supervise team in compliance with policies.
* Act as escalation point for queries.
* Collaborate with the National Sales Manager on strategies.
* Hold regular development meetings with team members.
* Foster a dynamic sales culture.
* Build relationships with Underwriting and Operations.
Required Qualifications

* Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
* People management experience, including coaching and objective setting.
* Leadership and motivational skills in a sales environment.
Additional Skills
* Knowledge of UK Employee Benefits, legislation, and distribution channels.
* Experience in Life and Pensions sectors.
* Proven success leading telephone sales teams in financial services.
* Strong presentation, judgment, and interpersonal skills.
