Director - Building Consultancy / Building Surveying (Head of Cardiff Office)
Cardiff | £100,000 - £125,000 DOE + Car Allowance + Bonus
The Opportunity
A rare opportunity has arisen for a Director-level Building Surveyor to lead and grow an established Cardiff office within a highly regarded independent property consultancy. With an experienced team already in place and a strong portfolio of institutional clients, this role offers the chance to take full ownership of a regional business unit; driving growth, leading key client relationships, and remaining hands-on in delivering high-quality consultancy services. This is a genuine leadership role with autonomy, backed by an established platform - not a “number two” position. This is a succession-led hire, offering a clear long-term pathway and the opportunity to significantly influence growth in the South Wales market.
The Role
You will take full responsibility for leading the Cardiff office, driving both performance and growth, while maintaining close relationships with key clients.
You will work closely with institutional investors, developers and asset managers across a range of commercial sectors including industrial, office, PBSA and build-to-rent.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead, manage and develop a team of Building Surveyors and Project Managers
* Drive business development and revenue growth across the region
* Deliver a range of Building Surveying services to high-profile clients
* Manage and grow relationships with institutional investors and developers
* Set office strategy aligned to wider business objectives
* Ensure high standards of service delivery and technical excellence
* Coach, mentor and develop team members
About You
You will be a commercially driven Building Surveyor with the ability to lead, win work and build lasting client relationships.
You will typically have:
* MRICS qualified (essential)
* Strong background in Building Surveying within a consultancy environment
* Proven experience in winning work and managing client relationships
* A track record of delivering fee income and driving business growth
* Experience leading or mentoring teams
* Strong commercial awareness and market knowledge
* An existing client network or ability to generate new business is highly desirable
