Meta Reality Lab – Senior Technical Artist

As a Senior Technical Artist, you will work with a talented group of industry professionals and strategically lead in this emergent and creative space. Responsibilities
1. Strategically drive the development of Art Pipelines and Tech Art content, including pipeline tools, AI tool integration, feature design, and documentation.
2. Own profiling and optimization of content and features for memory and performance, while maintaining high visual fidelity.
3. Collaborate effectively as a bridge between Art and Engineering disciplines to overcome technical challenges and ensure strategic alignment.
4. Lead the Technical Art team in prototyping and iterating on new experimental features, including emerging opportunities with Gen AI.
5. Deliver content to the game, debug issues, and identify efficiencies.
6. Mentor other artists to develop their technical skills and share knowledge across Meta.
Minimum Qualifications
* Proven teamwork and communication skills, openness to feedback, and experience providing strategic suggestions for asset or process improvements.
* A showreel and sample files demonstrating expert-level technical art skills and solving complex, large-scale problems.
* Experience analyzing pipelines, identifying inefficiencies, and automating processes using scripting languages.
* Long-term understanding of commercial game engines and real-time asset production, from conception to bug fixing and in-game delivery.
* Experience in authoring and optimizing shaders in HLSL/GLSL.
* Experience in creating and optimizing simple VFX.
* Experience developing tools or gameplay logic using engine-specific tools like Unreal Blueprint or Unity C# scripts.
* Experience capturing rendering and scene performance profiling with tools such as Perfetto or RenderDoc.
* Solid understanding of core art fundamentals, including color theory, form, composition, and lighting, with an appreciation for game level design.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working on mobile and virtual reality platforms.
* Experience with experimental Generative AI workflows, including Comfy UI.
* Extensive experience with tools and pipeline development for digital content creation packages like Maya or Blender.
* Experience with C++.
* Experience with character asset pipelines, rigging, and related tooling.
