SENCo - Secondary (Immediate Start)
A well‑established secondary school in Birmingham is seeking an experienced and committed Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) for an immediate start. This vacancy is being managed on a strictly confidential basis.This is an opportunity for a skilled SENCo to lead high‑quality SEND provision within a busy secondary setting and make a measurable impact on pupil outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage SEND provision across Key Stages 3-5
* Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
* Oversee EHCPs, annual reviews, and SEN support plans
* Work closely with teaching staff to embed inclusive practice
* Liaise effectively with parents, external professionals, and local authority services
* Track progress and intervention impact for pupils with SEND
* Support transition arrangements and behaviour or pastoral strategies where required
Person Specification
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
* Recent and relevant SENCo experience in a secondary setting - essential
* NASENCO qualification (or currently working towards) - desirable
* Strong working knowledge of secondary curriculum access and differentiation
* Clear understanding of safeguarding and statutory responsibilities
* Available to start immediately or at short notice
Vetting & SafeguardingThe successful candidate will be required to:
* Hold an Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service)
* Provide satisfactory references
* Complete all pre‑employment and safeguarding checks
* Have the right to work in the UK
