Streetscene Driver/Labourer
Grade 4: £25,989 - £26,824 per annum
Environment & Property Directorate. Streetscene are seeking to appoint a hardworking and reliable person be a Streetscene Driver Labourer.
Duties include driving and operation of mechanical sweeping vehicles and other street cleansing vehicles up to 3.5 tonne (7.5 tonne if licence permits, training will be provided if necessary), the emptying litter bins on highways, parks and open spaces. The use of manual and automated cleansing methods to remove litter, dog fouling, fly tipping, fly posting and graffiti.
Duties may also include carrying out difficult waste removal duties including building and private property clearance and the handling of hazardous materials including cement / asbestos sheeting. Grade 5 will be paid whilst carrying out these duties.
The successful applicant will be required to monitor tasks relating to a small team of colleagues and people on community service.
The successful applicant should be conscientious, flexible, trustworthy, and have good communication skills. They should enjoy working outdoors and be able to undertake a significant amount of walking and lifting during the working day.
The normal hours of work are 7.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 3.00pm Friday. You may also be required to start work at an earlier time or work later if necessary for the needs of the service. You may also be required to work Bank Holidays and be included in overtime rotas when required.
