The Role – Pharmaceutical Buyer

Hybrid

Location: Hayes/Derby

This role requires to travel between our Hayes and Derby sites on regular basis.

We are looking for a Pharmaceutical Buyer to support the Head of Procurement, in delivering a best in class Procurement function and strategy, driving continuous growth and development for the Uniphar Global Sourcing business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop global relationships directly with manufacturers, selling the overall ethos of the Uniphar Group, and the Global Sourcing business
2. Engagement with key internal stakeholders, Sales, Operations, Quality, Finance, HR
3. Monthly monitoring and management of competitor commercial activities & offerings outside of On-Demand global channels to include appropriate response and communications
4. Ownership of the supply chain relationships, understand the constraints and coordinate activities to ensure all resources are exercised and escalated if any supply gaps exist
5. Present and deliver key initiatives updates on a weekly/monthly basis to OD Head of Procurement team
6. Investigate and support the Procurement strategy for Generics, Prescriptions medicines, Medical devices, OTC’s for each of the following regions: European & UK partnerships American/Canadian partnerships MENA partnerships Australasia partnerships LATAC & African partnerships
7. Help shape the On-Demand procurement strategy UK – support in the on-boarding of new distribution agreements, and shape the UK strategy and streamline the procurement function – i.e. Supplier analysis, Supplier development, preferred vendor management, etc
8. UK – develop a best-in-class portfolio of products and suppliers, with exclusive arrangements where possible, maintaining a product portfolio with up to date pricing and availability
9. ROW – develop a robust supplier portfolio and access to stock from global markets in key countries such as the US/Canada/EU and Asia
10. Develop a close working relationship with Sales colleagues with the aim of growing the OD business

Qualification, Experience & Skills Required

11. 3 years minimum buying experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
12. Desirable unlicensed medicine buying experience.
13. Proven track record in achieving targets, in a wholesale, retail or NHS Hospital environment.
14. Solid understanding of the NHS and Hospital Pharmacy.
15. Extensive experience in all aspects of relationship management.
16. Experience in incorporating a financial and strategic perspective to procurement policies.
17. Proven analytical skills combined with excellent commercial acumen are essential.
18. High levels of resilience and tenacity.
19. Equally comfortable working alone or as part of a team.
20. Flexible, innovative approach to work.
21. Excellent communication skills - ability to communicate at all business levels, including customer/supplier conferences
22. Ability to work well under pressure and to work to targets.
23. Good time management and planning skills.
24. Excellent Excel,Powerpoint skills and a keen eye for detail
25. Knowledge of CRM systems an advantage.
