Your role You will: ensure the effective day to day running of the Receivables function within the Payables and Receivables team work with colleagues to ensure that the council’s medium term financial strategies are delivered and support the council’s Strategic Plan use professional judgement, skills, and expertise to analyse and interpret financial information and situations, and to give specialist advice and support required by other service areas relating to receivables identify when consultation with the Finance Compliance Manager is required and refer issues as appropriate work co-operatively and collaboratively with staff in the Finance Team, colleagues across service teams and with external partners and external auditors be responsible for the day-to-day line management of the Payables and Receivables team, Receivables Officer(s) and Assistant Receivable Officer(s), including development, performance management and support oversee the day to day running of the teams Receivables function to ensure all sales invoices are correctly recorded, payments received are applied to the ledgers in a timely manner, and the debt management process is effectively operated including Breathing Space ensure the effective management of the main accounting system unposted sales invoice queue and document archiving sales invoice queues. What you will need: A proven track record in operational delivery of accounting transactional services, and use of accounting applications and working knowledge of Microsoft excel for data analysis and reporting. Proven good working knowledge of VAT categorisation. Proven experience of debtor account reconciliation. Ability to collaborate and to work across teams and organisations. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work successfully with a range of contacts. Demonstration of good analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving, with attention to detail. 4 GCSEs (Grade C or above) or equivalent which include English Language and Mathematics, or significant and demonstrable finance experience working in a similar role at this level. The role has a necessity to work within data protection and confidentiality requirements. A commitment to own development and to supporting training and development initiatives.
