* Crisis South – covering Southend, Thurrock, Basildon, Castlepoint and Rochford, base: Kiln Road, Benfleet
* Crisis Mid and West – Chelmsford and Harlow, base: Stapleford House or Aylmer House
The SET CAMHS crisis and therapeutic home treatment team offers assessment and interventions to young people presenting with mental deterioration or crisis presentations. As a service we work within the Thrive model and implement collaborative care plans with community services and the community SET CAMHS team to promote positive outcomes for vulnerable young people and their families.
Our approach is focused on meeting the needs of the young person to ensure effective clinical practice and brief therapeutic interventions, and to reduce risk within a containing approach. Opportunities for development and training in various therapeutic approaches are available, and all new starters receive full induction and shadowing opportunities. We also welcome candidates from internal teams interested in career progression and skill enhancement for this client group. Regular clinical supervision and reflective space are offered, and the team operates on a shared risk model to ensure collective decision‑making.
Responsibilities
* Skilled in assessment, formulation, management and delivery of therapy to people experiencing acute mental health crisis in both community and hospital settings.
* Experienced in assessing and managing clinical risk, drawing on dynamic case formulation skills and working collaboratively with service users to agree treatment and safety plans.
* Possess a current Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling, Psychotherapy or equivalent professional qualification (BABCP, HCPC) and be skilled and experienced in evidence‑based therapy delivery (including DBT/CBT/Systemic & Creative therapies).
* Have knowledge, understanding and experience of legal frameworks related to care and treatment of children and young people, particularly the Children Act 1989, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007).
* Flexible to work within a service that operates 7 days a week, 365 days per year, including unsociable hours.
* Work independently as well as collaboratively and supportively within the multidisciplinary team, appreciating the networks surrounding young people, especially in modern mental health contexts.
* Flexible in practice and approach, able to carry out high‑quality Mental Health and Risk Assessments and deliver talking therapy and evidence‑based interventions in various settings, including young people’s homes, colleges, schools, community settings and A&Es.
* Able to formulate specific, highly specialist care and treatment plans, providing skilled interventions to young people with complex mental health problems, and complete detailed written assessments promptly.
* Have a passion and enthusiasm for delivering high‑quality care to young people and their families.
* Use and manage clients’ electronic records.
* Manage busy or complex workloads as part of a team.
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants must be registered mental health nurses (RMN), occupational therapists, social workers, counsellors, psychotherapists, psychological therapists, or creative therapists holding registration with BABCP or HCPC. Prior experience in crisis care and evidence‑based therapy is essential.

* Comprehensive induction programme (up to two weeks) including mandatory training, systems training and equipment allocation.
* Probationary period of guidance, with internal applicants exempt unless they are already partway through a probationary period or a bank member.
* High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (capped between £4,714 and £5,941 p.a. per annum, pro‑rata for part‑time).
Working Conditions
Position based at Kiln Road, Benfleet or Stapleford House/Aylmer House, Essex. Work involves flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
