PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC Radio Nottingham is looking for a dynamic and creative Producer to work across programmes and bring stories to life out on the patch. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the sound of Nottinghamshire every day. Finding brilliant characters, responding to breaking news, and delivering original journalism that sets the agenda. We hold power to account, champion our communities and celebrate the people who make this place extraordinary. As a Producer, you will be at the heart of that mission helping us tell the stories that define our county.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

Being part of the BBC Radio Nottingham team means joining a passionate, supportive newsroom that cares deeply about its patch. You’ll make a real impact every day, shaping conversations across Nottinghamshire and connecting with audiences who rely on us. Working with creative colleagues who push boundaries and champion new ideas. It’s a place where you can develop your craft, take risks, and be truly proud of the work you do.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

As a Producer working across programmes and out on the patch, you will play a key role in shaping the journalism and storytelling that connects BBC Radio Nottingham with its audiences. You'll help set the daily agenda by finding, developing and delivering original stories, whether from the studio or out reporting live on location. Your work will drive high impact content across platforms, support presenters with compelling material, and ensure our journalism reflects the communities we serve. By bringing creativity, strong editorial judgement and a deep understanding of Nottinghamshire, you will help deliver output that is relevant, trusted and distinctive.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

* Ability to deliver high quality cross platform content using a range of production tools.
* Strong editorial judgement, with the ability to generate and develop accurate, impartial journalism tailored to different audiences.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively, manage deadlines and contribute to team workflows.
* Proven experience building productive working relationships and contributing positively to a collaborative, inclusive newsroom culture.
* Comfortable appearing on air when required, live or pre recorded, and contributing to the production of programmes.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.

Benefits

Here you will benefit from:

* Fair pay and flexible benefits including a competitive salary package, a flexible 35-hour working week, 25 days annual leave with the option to buy an extra 5 days, a defined pensions scheme and discounted dental, health care and gym.
* Excellent career and professional development.
* Support in your working life, including flexible working which you can discuss with us at any point during the application, selection or offer.
* A values-based organisation where the way we do things is important as what we do.

Benefits may vary if you are joining on an FTC basis or on an orchestra conditions contract.

We welcome applications from individuals, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion and/or belief.

We are a disability confident employer. If you need to discuss adjustments or access requirements for the interview process, or to carry out this role, please contact us via email and we’d be happy to discuss: reasonable.adjustments@bbc.co.uk
