Job Purpose/Overview
* Conduct security risk assessments and provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security principles into system designs, ensuring robust and scalable security solutions.
* Support security assurance activities, identifying vulnerabilities, recommending mitigations, and ensuring continuous improvement of security frameworks.
Responsibilities
* Lead security risk assessment and assurance activities tailored to Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) environments, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards.
* Advise the Service Triumvirate (Delivery, Operations, and Security leads) on the implementation of appropriate security measures to mitigate identified risks.
* Lead supply chain security assurance activities at the service group level.
Autonomy
* The jobholder will aim to identify design issues and security challenges, escalating risks and proposing corrective actions under the guidance of the Senior Security Architect.
* Works within established security frameworks and governance processes, consulting with the Senior Security Architect to ensure alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
Job Scope
* The job of Security Solutions Architect is to lead project or programme level Cyber risk assessment, Compliance and Assurance activities.
* Reviews Change Requests and associated plans raised by the Service Group or programme to identify whether the proposed change is within the Design envelope.
* Develop technology strategies in conjunction with other stakeholders to meet NATS business objectives.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Degree in a relevant Business or IT technical qualification or equivalent.
* Familiarity with security architecture frameworks such as NIST, TOGAF, SABSA, or Zachman and their practical application.
* Exposure to security compliance and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS Directive, Cyber Essentials). Ability to identify and assess security risks, escalating complex issues to the Senior Security Architect for resolution. Strong technical understanding of cybersecurity principles, including security related to all aspects of a service deployed in on-premise, cloud or Hybrid environments.
* Ability to interpret and apply security governance processes, supporting compliance and security assurance activities.
* Strong communication skills, capable of articulating security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Familiarity with Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) and security frameworks such as ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, or NIST CSF.
