Job Description

New Directions Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming primary school in Winsford. This is a full-time role, ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them to thrive within a mainstream school environment.

The school is a well-established, community-focused primary setting with a strong inclusive ethos. It is known for its nurturing approach to pupil wellbeing, supportive staff team, and commitment to ensuring every child is given the opportunity to succeed. The school benefits from strong leadership and a collaborative working culture, where staff work closely together to support both academic progress and personal development.

The Role:

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
• Supporting children to access learning within a mainstream classroom setting
• Assisting with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation needs
• Implementing individual support strategies and EHCP targets
• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
• Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in learning
• Supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
• Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
• Monitoring progress and contributing to records and feedback

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Experience working with children with SEND (school-based experience desirable)
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
• A full driving licence and access to transport (desirable)
