Main Purpose of the Role To install, maintain, and test electrical systems and components in accordance with current electrical regulations and company standards. The Approved Electrician is expected to work independently and lead or supervise junior staff where required. Key Responsibilities Install, test, inspect, and certify electrical systems (LV and ELV) Carry out fault finding and reactive maintenance Ensure compliance with BS7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and Health & Safety legislation Complete Electrical Installation Certificates, Minor Works, and Condition Reports Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams Supervise and mentor apprentices or junior electricians Coordinate with site managers, contractors, and clients to ensure timely delivery of works Ensure tools, materials, and work areas are maintained in a safe and efficient manner Use testing equipment to ensure system safety and performance Essential Qualifications & Experience NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent ECS Gold Card (Approved Electrician grade) City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (Inspection & Testing) 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in electrical installation and maintenance Full UK Driving Licence (if travel required) Desirable Skills & Competencies AM2 or equivalent practical assessment Experience working on commercial, industrial, or new build residential projects Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics Strong understanding of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) Supervisory or mentoring experience Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team IT literacy for completing digital certification and reports Health & Safety Must comply with company and site-specific Health & Safety procedures Use appropriate PPE at all times Report incidents, near-misses, or hazards in line with company policy Working Conditions Site-based (may involve travel between multiple locations) May include working at height, in confined spaces, or outdoors Some out-of-hours, weekend, or emergency call-out work may be required Additional Requirements Right to work in the UK Willingness to undergo DBS check (if working in schools, healthcare, etc.) Commitment to CPD (Continual Professional Development)
