Overview
This is a new opportunity within our transport division. It is a full time role, based in Corpach, Fort William and may involve some travel to our depots in Grangemouth or Inverness to fulfill the needs of the role. The role can be full time or part time, with flexible working hours to facilitate travel to our Logistics Hub. Travel to other depots will be required with use of a company car (private use of the company car is not included).
The main purpose of the role is to lead on the development and delivery of training programmes to all current and new HGV Drivers (c45), Shunter/Trainee Drivers (rolling programme) and Transport Office Staff (c8).
The successful candidate must have excellent knowledge and experience of working within the haulage industry, a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly PowerPoint), and strong organisational and administrative skills with the ability to adapt to change.
About you:
* Previous experience in a similar role or relevant qualification within the road haulage industry or an associated training role
* Minimum 3 years HGV C+E licence and a Certificate of Professional Competence in national Road Haulage Operations (preferred)
* Knowledge of MS Office; particularly Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
* Confident, professional manner
* Strong organisational skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Excellent attention to detail
Main Responsibilities (list not exhaustive)
* Supporting the Transport Directors, escalate issues that occur during delivery of inductions and training
* Apply expert knowledge through training to ensure all drivers follow company standard operating procedures, improve driving technique, fuel efficiency, and reduce accident rates
* Carry out accident/incident investigation and report writing
* Keep up to date with DVSA working practices, including Earned Recognition
* Implement a training programme based on fuel efficiency principles to reduce overall fleet fuel consumption
* Set up and maintain company registration as a training provider with JAUPT; write, develop and deliver CPC courses suitable for the business needs and external parties
* In the longer term: set up and maintain company registration as a training provider with the SQA; develop and deliver ADR courses suitable for the business needs and external parties
* Work with HR and Transport Managers to recruit HGV Drivers, from reviewing applications to interviews and driver assessments
* Conduct a programme of Behaviour Based Safety Training with ADR training provider
* Support the EU & RTWTD Analyst with tachograph analysis and managing drivers’ hours
* Write and develop internal training programmes with support from Transport Office staff and Human Resources to suit individual progression plans and business needs, including HGV driver training, forklift, plant and machinery where deemed competent
