NPD Electrical Engineer & Technician


Background to the Company

Main Purpose of Job & Key Responsibilities

Cross functional engineering support to allow the business to develop and deliver new products that meet the needs of its customer base in a timely and cost-efficient manner to the correct performance and quality standards. This will involve supporting all aspects of product development; from concept, early mock ups, prototype builds, engineering validation and testing through to preproduction and infant care / handover.

* Support the creation and delivery of (1) new product designs and (2) electrical drawings and schematics using suitable CAD packages as needed.
* Assist with the testing and evaluation of concepts, sub-systems and prototype / pre-production machines. Capturing and recoding performance data as needed.
* System integration – ensure products meet the required technical performance targets and are designed for manufacture (DFM) to minimise assembly time or future outsourcing. This will include controls as well as system power management and integration.
* Identify and implement opportunities for improvement to enhance products under development allowing the final designs to be proved off and locked down quickly. Work closely with operations and gather feedback /gain trust.
* To keep abreast of new technology development and be mindful of how this may and can be incorporated into future products.
* Ongoing system and process improvements to enhance the way we work and drive new product development / business efficiency.
* Ensure product safety and compliance to relevant codes & standards (e.g. CE, UL, CSA) is adhered to.


Qualifications

* Suitable electrical qualifications (NVQ, HNC, HND, Degree) and / or experience.
* Ideally, a proficient / time served user of AutoCAD / SolidWorks Electrical plus Microsoft 365. Training will however be provided re. CAD.
* A strong personality with energy, drive, adaptability, problem solving and decision-making capability. Ideally, having worked with similar electrical products and can bring an aligned and best practise experience to allow the continued growth of the engineering team / business.
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written, comfortable discussing and engaging with key working parties both internally and externally.

* Organised, self-discipled, numerate, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver in a timely manner as required.
* Both people and process orientated to help them drive and achieve common goals through relationship building and collaboration.
