Family Law (Childcare) Legal Assistant
Location: Telford, Shropshire
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

A well-established and respected Shropshire law firm is seeking a motivated and reliable Legal Assistant to join its busy Family Law (Childcare) department.
This is a rare opportunity to work directly alongside the Head of Department on a varied and meaningful caseload involving public and private children matters. The role offers genuine, long-term progression for the right candidate, including the opportunity to be considered for a future training contract.
The Role
You will provide hands-on support in a fast-paced childcare team dealing with sensitive and rewarding work, including care proceedings, PLO matters, and private children disputes.
You will be involved in:
* Assisting with care proceedings and public law children matters
* Preparing court bundles and legal documentation
* Drafting correspondence and statements
* Liaising with clients, counsel, courts, local authorities and experts
* Managing diaries, files and key deadlines
* Attending court with the fee earner where required
* Providing high-level administrative and legal support to the Head of Department
This role is ideal for someone who wants to build a long-term career in family law and gain real, practical experience in childcare work at an early stage.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
* Professional, empathetic and confident dealing with vulnerable clients
* Able to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines
* Interested in pursuing a career in law, particularly family/childcare law
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
* Previous legal assistant/paralegal experience is desirable but not essential
* A law degree or legal qualification is advantageous but not required
