Randstad are looking for a dedicated Mental Health Adviser to join Keele University and their Counselling and Mental Health Support Service. This is a vital role focused on supporting students with moderate to serious and enduring mental health difficulties, helping them manage their wellbeing while achieving their academic goals.

The Role

Working within a multi:disciplinary team, you will provide essential individual and group:based support. You will serve as a bridge between the university and external agencies, such as the NHS, to ensure students receive timely and appropriate care. You will work in a hybrid capacity at the university on a part:time basis (around 24 hours per week).



Key Responsibilities:

* Direct Support: Deliver individual and group support for students with complex mental health needs using stepped care and psycho:therapeutic interventions.

* Case Coordination: Proactively coordinate support packages in conjunction with the University, community partners, and local Mental Health Trusts.

* Expert Consultation: Act as a specialist point of contact for other University professional services regarding students in crisis or with serious mental health presentations.

* Institutional Collaboration: Work closely with the Disability Service to ensure support recommendations align with current disability legislation.

* Administrative Excellence: Maintain high:quality, confidential professional records and participate in monthly case management and facilitated group supervision.

Requirements:

We are looking for a professional who can maintain firm boundaries while working compassionately with a diverse student population.



Essential Criteria:

* Qualifications: Degree:level education or equivalent significant experience in a specialist mental health setting.

* Clinical Experience: Proven track record in assessing mental health needs, identifying risk, and working with severe and enduring mental health problems.

* Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK legislation, specifically the Mental Health Act (2007) and disability legislation.

* Team Skills: Ability to work reflectively within a therapeutic team and communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.

* Reliability: Commitment to maintaining professional registration (if applicable) and attending key university events if required.

Desirable Criteria:

* Status as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (e.g., Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Social Worker).

* Experience working in non:statutory or Higher Education settings.
