Job Description
Are you a high-performing SaaS sales professional looking for more autonomy, greater purpose, and stronger earnings? At VerseOne, you’ll sell solutions that transform how public sector organisations serve their communities — and get well rewarded for it.
We're the UK’s leading provider of AI-powered Digital Experience Platforms (DXP) for Social Housing and the NHS. Profitable, employee-owned, and purpose-driven, we've been innovating for over 20 years, helping more than 100 organisations deliver exceptional customer and employee experiences.
Now, due to continued growth, we’re hiring a Senior Business Development Manager to help us scale across Local Government. This is a high-impact, strategic sales role where you'll own the entire sales cycle, work directly with senior stakeholders, and help solve real problems in sectors that matter.
What You’ll Do
o You’ll be responsible for owning and driving new business across a defined territory. This is a full-cycle, high-responsibility role—you’ll oversee everything from strategic targeting to closing six-figure deals with multiple stakeholders. You will:
o Own and manage the entire sales cycle — from cold outreach and qualification to proposal, negotiation, and close.
o Sell enterprise-grade digital solutions (typically £50k–£200k) to senior decision-makers including C-level, Heads of Digital, Transformation, IT, and Operations.
o Develop and maintain a strategic pipeline of opportunities with 3–12-month sales cycles.
o Build deep, value-driven relationships with stakeholders within Local Government.
o Research and understand your customers’ business models, regulatory challenges, and digital transformation goals.
o Deliver compelling product presentations, business cases, and proposals.
o Collaborate cross-functionally with pre-sales consultants, marketing, and delivery teams to ensure smooth handover and long-term customer success.
What We’re Looking For
We’re after intelligent, motivated, and experienced sales professionals who know how to work smart, sell strategically, and close consistently in complex environments. We require:
· 5+ years of B2B SaaS sales experience, in a relatively complex, solution-led environment.
· A proven track record of hitting or exceeding sales targets (ideally £500k–£1M+ annual quota).
· Strong experience selling into the Public Sector especially Local Government, or failing that a regulated “RFP/tender” led sector.
· Skills in multi-stakeholder, consultative selling — ability to uncover needs, develop business cases, and navigate procurement processes.
· Full-cycle experience: prospecting, qualification, pitching, proposal writing, and closing.
· High degree of self-sufficiency — encompassing SDR and bid management responsibility; you own your pipeline.
· Excellent communication, listening, and proposal-writing skills.
