Hassengate Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a practice nurse to join our team on a part-time basis, working 30 hours per week. Responsibilities of the role include: Providing consultations in the surgery. Participation in the implementation of health promotion, disease management and the provision of a full range of nursing services to the patient population of the practice. Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. Following the National Service Framework protocols / NICE guidelines, screening patients for disease risks and early signs of illness. Providing appropriate care to patients. Assisting in the assurance that all policies and protocols are regularly re-assessed and reviewed, allowing effectiveness. Identifying care needs of the practice population, and organising work to best meet the need. Carrying out, without supervision, principally: agreed adult injections; c hild immunisations; t ravel vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis; s mear taking and cervical cytology, including auditing results; administering annual flu and pneumonia vaccines; resuscitation and anaphylaxis management; infection control procedures; wound care and ear suction; maintenance of clinical areas, equipment and supplies; health promotion advice, including exercise, alcohol, diet and smoking. Moving on to other areas, as competence and practice needs require, such as: family planning and emergency contraception (including to those under 16yrs); menopause advice; chronic disease management within guidelines and competency for diabetes (6 month checks), RA, hypertension and CHD, with support of GP in need.
