About Andover Trees United (ATU)
Andover Trees United was set up in 2011. It is an award-winning, community-led environmental charity with a mission to educate, engage and empower people of all ages to take action for the environment. We work in partnership with schools, community groups and volunteers to deliver hands-on projects in conservation, climate education and community regeneration.
Our Branching Out strategy highlights the need for stronger communications to build a wider audience, inspire the next generation, and ensure our work is clearly understood and valued. This role has been created to deliver that goal.
Purpose of the Role
Andover Trees United is seeking an experienced individual to identify, develop and implement sustainable income-generating opportunities that will support the long-term financial stability of the charity. The role will focus on maximising the use of the charity's existing resources (including The Cabin and The Wood), developing a membership scheme, and establishing practical systems that ensure ATU can grow and thrive.
Article 12.8 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals states that by 2030, people everywhere should have the relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature. This post directly contributes to that ambition by ensuring ATU's messaging is clear, compelling and far-reaching.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
The Cabin & Facilities
* Propose and develop ways to use The Cabin to increase its income potential.
* Work with colleagues to market these opportunities to the community, local organisations, and potential partners.
* Collaborate with fellow officers and the management committee to devise a bookings package and booking system for The Cabin, The Wood, and associated facilities/resources.
* Provide workable suggestions for how the booking system can be operated effectively and sustainably.
Income Generation & Membership
Devise a tailored-to-the-charity, tiered membership scheme:
* Proposal submitted by end of October 2025.
* Scheme finalised with Trustees by end of November 2025.
* Membership launched and ready for marketing by early December 2025.
Research and recommend income-generating opportunities using ATU's assets (The Cabin, The Wood, facilities, and resources).
Produce a portfolio of proposals, including at least one fully costed and operational option agreed by Trustees and ready for implementation by early February 2026.
Data, Reporting & Impact
* Contribute to research concerning the charity's income-generation potential.
* Assist in the gathering, recording, and analysis of data for project and activity evaluation, including impact measurement where required.
* Provide regular feedback through meetings and written reports to ensure Trustees and the Management Team remain well-informed on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Person Specification
We are looking for a proactive and resourceful individual with proven experience in developing sustainable funding models and income streams, ideally within a charity or community setting. The successful candidate will combine strong project management skills with the ability to turn ideas into practical, deliverable solutions. They will be an excellent communicator, comfortable engaging with Trustees, colleagues and community stakeholders, and able to produce clear, well-researched proposals. A background in the environmental, education or sustainability sectors, together with experience of designing membership schemes and booking systems, would be a distinct advantage.
Essential
* Proven experience in developing sustainable funding models and income streams within a charity, community, or similar setting.
* Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver clear outcomes within agreed timeframes.
* Excellent proposal writing, research, and analytical skills.
* Strong communication skills, with confidence in engaging Trustees, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
Desirable
* Knowledge of the environmental, education, or sustainability sectors.
* Experience creating and marketing membership schemes.
* Familiarity with booking systems and resource management tools.
Reporting
The post-holder will report to the Board of Trustees (or a nominated Trustee/project lead) and work collaboratively with fellow officers and the Management Committee.
Payment
This is a project-based role with a total fee of £5,000, payable in stages on successful completion of each project milestone/deliverable.
The post holder will be required to work from a variety of locations to include Harmony Woods.
