A little more about your role…
We are looking to recruit Transport Planners at all levels with a strong development-related Transport Planning background to join our Development team in Manchester.
Your responsibilities will include working on a variety of projects, from commercial, retail, and residential developments to developing transport strategies, contributing to masterplans, and supporting Expert Witness evidence. You will assist private sector clients with development proposals through the planning process and support public sector clients in developing transport and parking strategies, as well as scheme development. Our team collaborates closely with Highways, Services, Structures, and Environmental teams to lead larger multi-disciplinary development proposals.
You will be involved in providing technical transport planning input into development projects, managing projects, and leading where appropriate. Mentoring early career professionals will be part of your role to support project delivery.
You will support or lead transport planning efforts on small to medium projects, working with senior colleagues on complex multi-disciplinary projects. This role offers opportunities to develop your commercial skills and expand your professional network for business development.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
* Experience leading technical work on Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategies, parking strategies, sustainable transport, and active travel, with familiarity with guidelines like NPPF, DfT Transport Assessment guidelines, Manual for Streets;
* Expertise in preparing traffic flow information for Transport Assessments and Environmental Statements;
* Experience with junction capacity modelling software such as Junctions 10 and Linsig, including understanding inputs, outputs, and scenario testing;
* Project management experience on small to medium projects, including budget and resource planning, invoicing;
* Ability to carry out or supervise conceptual junction design (priority, roundabout, signals);
* Excellent communication skills and confidence to lead discussions with clients, project teams, and stakeholders;
* Ability to mentor colleagues, especially early career professionals, in your areas of expertise;
* Proficiency with software like Excel and Word;
* Growing professional network of co-professionals and clients;
* Significant post-graduate experience as a Transport Planner;
* Ideally, pursuing or holding chartered status in a transport-related discipline.
