Overview
Interviews are scheduled to take place on 10th November 2025. This post is an exciting opportunity for a senior role within the Obstetric and Gynaecology Department at UHCW NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work with clinical colleagues to deliver a comprehensive Obstetric service to patients in the Coventry and Warwickshire communities.
The post holder will be part of a high‑performing team at a centre providing regional care across Obstetric, Gynaecological and Neonatal pathways, closely linked to research initiatives such as the Tommys National Centre for Miscarriage Research and a fully integrated Centre for Reproductive Medicine. The role is based at the University Hospital, Coventry with outpatient commitments at the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby and community sites. Administrative and management functions will be part of the role, with clinical scheduling reviewed after the first six months.
Responsibilities
* Provide strong leadership to all disciplines and ensure guidance is available to all staff within the obstetric areas.
* Provide dedicated support to the Obstetric wards and Fetal Wellbeing department.
* Develop close working patterns, shared guidelines, education and joint standards across disciplines.
* Communicate openly and consult with clinicians, midwives, nurses and administrative staff on developments within obstetrics and gynaecology.
* Promote a culture of continuous learning and development, supporting research, audit, education and training.
* Participate in Labour Ward Forum and Quality of Care forum, ensuring decisions are fed back and implemented.
* Facilitate skills drills and ensure remedial action when deficiencies are identified.
* Take ongoing responsibility for patients under his/her care.
* Participate in the teaching and supervision of medical students and coordinate teaching sessions.
* Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialities and participate in regular clinical meetings and postgraduate activities.
* Share responsibility for the professional supervision and development of trainee doctors within the speciality, including appraisal of Specialist Trainees in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
