Engineering Manager\nSalary: £65,000 - £70,000\nWorking Hours: Monday to Friday\nLocation: Northampton\n\nWe are proud to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team within a dynamic and fast-paced production environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and hands-on leader to drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement across site operations.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLead the engineering function to provide efficient, cost-effective support across production and plant infrastructure.\n\nManage the departmental budget with a focus on cost efficiency, value creation, and strategic resource planning.\n\nContribute to long-term planning in areas such as labour strategy, energy consumption, and capital equipment upgrades.\n\nChampion development opportunities for the engineering team, conducting regular performance reviews and providing technical mentorship.\n\nTake ownership of full lifecycle CAPEX and infrastructure project delivery-ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.\n\nCollaborate cross-functionally to embed a strong culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.\n\nPartner closely with Production and Shift Managers to plan, coordinate, and align engineering activities with operational goals.\n\nMaintain strong lines of communication between maintenance and production to support seamless operations.\n\nDevelop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and internal maintenance systems to maximise equipment uptime.\n\nDrive site-wide energy optimisation initiatives to improve efficiency and sustainability.\n\nSupport the negotiation and management of external service contracts, ensuring value for money and service quality.\n\nEnsure full compliance with all relevant Health & Safety, environmental, and insurance legislation (UK/EU standards).\n\nConduct and manage risk assessments, implement control measures, and champion safety for all staff and contractors on-site.\n\nDesign and deliver hands-on equipment maintenance training for production teams to promote cross-functional capability.\n\nPerson Specification:\n\nDegree or HND in Engineering or a related technical field.\n\nExtensive maintenance experience within a highly automated, batch production, or FMCG environment.\n\nDemonstrated leadership and team management skills.\n\nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and innovation abilities.\n\nProven track record in delivering capital investment projects.\n\nStrategic mindset with strong planning and execution capabilities.\n\nSolid budgeting and resource management expertise.\n\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\n\nA passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.\n\nWhat's on Offer:\n\nCompetitive salary: £65,000-£70,000\n\nMonday to Friday working pattern\n\nAttractive benefits package including annual leave, pension, and Cycle to Work scheme\n\nFlexible working options and family-friendly policies\n\nOngoing professional training and development\n\n24/7 confidential support for you and your family
