We are excited to offer this opportunity for a qualified Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team supporting neurodiverse children, young people and families within Manchester.
This is a development post in which the entry grade is a Band 5 which will then be progressed to a Band 6 following successful completion of a set of competencies.
The post holder will support an needs led offer of care and offer Occupational Therapy assessment, brief interventions and consultations.
This will involve facilitating training in order to empower parents and carers in addition to drop in sessions and some bespoke interventions.
They will join a well established Occupational Therapy team who will provide both mentorship and clinical supervision.
Main duties
* Offer Occupational therapy assessments
* Offer Occupational Therapy Interventions including training and workshops
* Contribute to Neurodevelopmental assessments
* Develop specialist clinical skill through in house and external training

* You must be registered/accredited with HCPC
Qualifications
* You must have a recognised qualification (BSc Hons Occupational Therapy).
* Evidence of ongoing personal development and the willingness to undertake further training.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
* Knowledge of the role of Occupational therapy within both the assessment and intervention pathway when working within a needs led model focussed upon neurodiversity.
* Knowledge of NICE guidance around Neurodevelopmental Assessments.
* Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and policy.
* Understanding of the principles of Clinical and Information Governance and a willingness to follow Trust Policy and Procedures.
* Understanding of Trust safeguarding procedures.
* Ability to present written information concisely and clearly.
* Ability to present verbal information concisely and clearly.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Knowledge of evidence-based practice and understanding why this is important in clinical practice.
* Good communication skills with the ability to provide and receive complex or sensitive information.
* To be able to function as a part of a multi-disciplinary team and to liaise effectively with other agencies i.e., education, GP’s, maintaining positive working relationships.
* The ability to reflect on and critically appraise own performance.
* Ability to work flexibly and creatively in a clinical context.
* The ability to maintain clinical records both written and electronic.
* The ability to work with people from a range of different backgrounds, cultures and or different ages.
* Knowledge of typical physical development in childhood.
* Knowledge of functional challenges faced by young people and families of young people with neurodiversity. Knowledge of DCD and functional implications.
* Knowledge of sensory Integration and how this can be applied to support sensory challenges.
* Knowledge of current ICB recommendations around ND assessment.
* Knowledge of requirements of an ND assessment report.
* Knowledge of Risk escalation.
