We are looking for a keen and experienced service engineer, fitter, technician, or mechanic to join our team in Taunton. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is either an experienced powered access engineer or perhaps an experienced car mechanic, plant fitter, or similar and wants to do something a bit different.
As a Workshop Service Engineer for Nationwide Platforms, you will work within a busy depot to inspect, repair, and maintain our machines, ensuring they are ready for customer use. Our machines are powered access equipment such as booms and scissor lifts, but full training will be provided. If you have a great attitude, are willing to learn, and have some mechanical or electrical engineering experience, this could be the role for you.
In return, we offer a salary from £28,000 (dependent on experience), life assurance (x2 contractual salary), Westfield healthcare plan, 25 days holiday, and a pension. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5.30pm.
Responsibilities include:
1. Support the Senior Service Engineer in the effective running of the depot workshop within the region.
2. Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) of machines at client premises and at the depot, ensuring conformance with manufacturer’s specifications, company policy, and safety regulations. Notify management of any defects or unsafe equipment.
3. Repair machines at the depot or on-site to ensure compliance with manufacturer’s specifications and company policies.
4. Complete planned maintenance activities, including maintaining the fleet’s appearance to corporate standards.
5. Handover machines to customers and familiarize them with safe operation procedures.
6. Provide high standards of customer care, acting as an ambassador for the company, and relay customer queries to depot staff as needed.
7. Accurately complete all relevant paperwork, including engineer’s reports, off-hire, PDI, and service sheets.
8. Update the system regarding machine status changes, such as PDI completion, repairs, or statutory inspections.
Qualifications and experience required:
* Relevant general engineering maintenance qualification, preferably NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Experience in diesel engineering, auto electrics, hydraulics, and fault diagnostics.
* A mature outlook with the ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure.
* An understanding of the importance of excellent customer service.
