Overview
We are working with a well-established and growing contractor specialising in the fit-out of healthcare facilities. With an annual turnover of approximately £30m, the business offers a stable environment alongside genuine opportunities for progression.
They are now looking to appoint a Junior Estimator to join their commercial team. This role goes beyond traditional estimating — they are seeking someone dynamic, commercially aware, and confident engaging with clients.
The Role
As a Junior Estimator, you will support the pricing and tendering of healthcare fit-out projects ranging from £100k to £5m. While experience working with bills of quantities is valuable, this role requires someone who can also think on their feet, communicate effectively, and represent the business professionally in client-facing situations.
This is a predominantly office-based role, working closely with senior estimators, commercial staff, and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting with the preparation of cost estimates and tenders for healthcare fit-out projects
Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documentation
Supporting the pricing of labour, materials, subcontractors, and preliminaries
Engaging with supply chain and subcontractors for pricing information
Attending meetings and contributing to client presentations when required
Working collaboratively with the wider commercial and delivery teams
About You
Junior-level estimating experience within construction or fit-out (healthcare experience desirable but not essential)
Commercially minded with the ability to think beyond standard BOQ-based estimating
Confident, presentable, and comfortable communicating with clients and stakeholders
Proactive, adaptable, and keen to develop within a growing business
Able to commute to Halifax on a daily basis
