Senior Highways Engineer
Responsibilities
As a Senior Highways Engineer, you will deliver technical excellence, innovation, and safety across a wide range of transportation projects. You will take ownership of key design deliverables, identify opportunities for automation and process efficiencies, and ensure scope changes are escalated appropriately to maintain programme and budget integrity. You will collaborate closely with discipline leads and project stakeholders to produce high‑quality outcomes, while also mentoring and supporting less experienced team members to build capability and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
* Design experience in transportation and the built environment
* Attained a relevant professional qualification, for example a degree in engineering, and CEng/ IEng or equivalent qualifications or work experience
* Technical experience of delivering local and/or major highways projects or the land side alignment elements in adjacent markets such as Water Aviation or rail
* Thorough understanding of commonly used design standards such as Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW) or international equivalents
* Sound knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and a passion for fostering safety and wellbeing
* Ability to work independently and effectively within a global multi-disciplinary team
