SEASONAL CHRISTMAS MARKET WORKERS REQUIRED
Location: The beautiful and famous Chester Christmas Market
Role Description:
Humbugs is currently looking for a range of fabulous and fantastic staff to work at the Christmas market. Spread across a couple of stalls serving a variety of drinks and hiring in multiple roles, there is space for everyone in this family-run company.
From making coffees and hot chocolates to managing the tills and upselling the little extras. The biggest requirement is a smile and some Christmas cheer. All roles come with full training, and there is plenty of chance to learn a host of new skills along the way.
Most of the work will be providing excellent customer service to the thousands of guests that visit us every year, preparing drinks from a set menu and taking both cash and card payments. All staff will be required to assist in preparing stalls for opening, cleaning to close down, and performing light lifting duties in stocking up, as well as working alongside the company owners to ensure as many people as possible receive a bit of Christmas cheer.
Paying a national living wage. The market opens on November 19th and closes on December 22nd, and is open across a variety of hours. Barista/hospitality experience preferred, but all candidates will be considered, regardless of experience level. Due to the nature of the business involving alcohol sales, over-18s are preferred.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have flexibility and availability in the lead-up to Christmas. A team spirit and happy attitude are essential; however, lots of experience is not. All training is offered to those willing to learn and develop their own skills. Willingness to switch to a variety of roles on stalls is also preferred; some shifts will be manning tills, and others will be preparing drinks. All candidates must be willing to help keep stalls clean and presentable to align with health and safety standards.
All candidates must be aware that all roles are outside work and must be able to dress appropriately to keep warm. Where safe, heaters will be provided on stalls, but due to the nature of the market, this may not always be possible.
This is a family-run company that performs best when working as a team. Candidates must be willing to be flexible in their approach to a day's work.
Important Information:
* Hours will be offered based on market opening times. All weekends and may be some hours in the week. Personal circumstances will be taken into consideration with the hours offered, but there are no guarantees of set working times.
* Priority of hours will be given to those who can work weekends.
* There is a limited number of Guaranteed Hours contracts to offer. All other contracts will be casual.
* Pay is up to £12.21 per hour in line with the national Living Wage for over 21's. £10 per hour for 18-20 year olds.
* All employees will be PAYE on a fixed-term contract.
* All staff will be allowed a break on their shift in which they may leave the market, allowing time to be back before the shift starts again.
* Some shifts may have early starts or later finishes. If there are mitigating circumstances to either of these, you will be required to inform the company before the schedule is written. If, on a very rare occasion, a candidate is required to work past 10 pm, this will have been agreed by both parties before the shift with a minimum of 48 hours' notice.
