The role is for a multi water sport instructor. This involves working as part of a team to deliver National Governing Body (NGB) courses to customers who expect a high standard of service. Responsibilities include maintaining and carrying out repairs on watercraft, providing safety boat cover when required, launching and recovering craft, and conducting regular checks and maintenance on life jackets and buoyancy aids. The position offers opportunities for professional development and upskilling in relevant qualifications. All instructors will be expected to be proficient in RYAand Paddle UK disciplines.
Essential qualifications, you must have one of the following:
1. RYA Dinghy Instructor
2. Paddle Sport/SUP Coach

3. RYA Senior Instructor
4. Keelboat or Multihull endorsement
5. Safetyboat qualification
6. RYA Powerboat Instructor
7. VHF Operator's Licence, and a clean driving licence.
The role also requires working within the safety framework established by Mitie, National Governing Bodies, and relevant water authorities.

While not all qualifications are essential, they are highly desirable, and the Royal Navy Water Activity Centre (RNWAC) values continuous staff development, offering opportunities for the right candidate to gain and enhance these credentials. As representatives of the wider Mitie team, instructors must display a positive attitude at all times.
Main Duties
19. Key duties include delivering RYA Dinghy and Powerboat courses, as well as Paddle UK Kayak, Canoe, and Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) courses. The instructor will also run taster sessions for paddle sports, dinghy sailing, provide safety boat cover for both recreational activities and training sessions. Once Trained the instructor will be required to complete life jacket maintenance and launch and recover using a tractor. During the Winter Period they will be expected to assist with the annual boat maintenance period. Instructors will be required to complete a minimum amount of overtime per seasonal month.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified RYA Instuctor or Paddle UK coach, capable of delivering NGB-accredited courses and taster sessions across a range of water sports, including dinghy sailing, powerboating, kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding. The role requires an individual who can work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the physical fitness required to perform the core responsibilities in accordance with NGB standards.
