At Watermill School, our motto is “We like to teach the way you like to learn.” Every pupil is unique, and we tailor our approaches to their strengths, interests, and needs. We don’t expect children to fit into a system; we design learning around them. What Makes Us Different? Individualised Learning: Every child’s communication style, sensory needs, and learning pace shape their personalised pathway through our innovative and creative curriculum. Meaningful Progress: We celebrate personal growth—whether it’s independence, communication, friendships, or academic achievement. Collaborative Culture: Work alongside specialist teachers and multi-agency teams in a supportive, solution-focused environment. Expectation to Flourish: Through safe and respectful relationships we proudly celebrate the achievements of our entire school community. We’re Looking for Classroom Support Staff Who: Believe every child can progress in meaningful ways. Are patient, flexible, and open to new approaches. Are calm and solution focused. Value teamwork and reflective practice. Want to grow professionally with ongoing training and support. Experience in special education is welcome but not essential—attitude, curiosity, and commitment matter most. The role will be to provide teaching and learning support under the direction of the class teacher. For this post we require someone who is motivated, hardworking and flexible. Please note that it is a requirement of the post to work across all age groups from 4 years to 16 years and to provide personal and medical care for the pupils, for which training will be given. Ready to shape brighter futures? Join us and be part of a team that truly makes a difference. Apply today! Watermill School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Candidates are vetted thoroughly, and appointments are subject to identity checks, DBS clearance and the production of satisfactory references prior to appointment. The post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Candidates will be asked about their commitment to safeguarding children at interview.
