Applications are invited for an experienced Consultant Breast Radiologist, or an experienced Consultant Radiologist with a desire to develop into Breast Radiology, to join our friendly and innovative Breast Centre team based at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness on a 10 PA basis per week. We also support applications for those wishing to work part-time. Some home working will be available. Out-of-hours reporting is provided by tele-radiology, with no on-call commitment.
This role supports the Breast imaging needs of the department, with a range of specialist activities within NHS Highland, encouraging specialist interests. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the department for further discussion.
You will work alongside supportive clinical colleagues in radiology, nursing, and other specialties. The Highland Breast Centre is purpose-built, integrating symptomatic and screening patients, and was the first of its kind when built in 2004.
You will be part of a team providing comprehensive services for screening and symptomatic patients. In 2022/23, 14,000 women attended the Breast Screening Service, and approximately 280 patients are diagnosed with Breast Cancer annually in NHS Highland and the Western Isles.
We are developing our non-medical workforce, including Advanced Practitioners and Radiographers undertaking stereo biopsies and film reading. We seek a Breast Radiologist to undertake responsibilities in both screening and symptomatic services.
As part of the North Cancer Alliance and the North of Scotland Breast Screening Service, we benefit from collaboration with other Cancer Centres and Screening Centres across Scotland, providing excellent peer support.
The Main Radiology Department offers a broad range of expertise, led by dedicated Radiologists committed to high-quality work.
