Role Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Construction Planner to lead fit‑out and asset replacement works within a live airport environment. This is a high‑impact role requiring deep expertise in planning, stakeholder engagement, and programme management.
You’ll Be Responsible For
* Developing robust schedules aligned with Heathrow‑specific milestones and durations.
* Gathering data from internal teams, supply chain partners, and benchmarks to build clear programmes in Primavera P6, adhering to Mace standards.
* Applying QSRA risk analysis and ensuring programmes meet the DCMA 14‑point assessment.
* Creating and managing schedule hierarchies (Level 1‑5) and communicating effectively across project teams.
* Producing detailed trade contractor schedules covering design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and close‑out.
* Updating programmes with progress and change; reporting monthly.
* Managing short‑term planning on live projects and integrating trade contractor schedules into the overall Mace programme.
* Communicating planning matters clearly to all stakeholders, including clients, design teams, and contractors.
* Conducting site walks to assess progress and ensure health and safety compliance.
* Managing contractor progress reporting and integrating updates into the schedule hierarchy.
* Monitoring KPIs and producing weekly/monthly dashboards and reports.
* Feeding KPI and production data into the Mace planning database.
* Supporting change management processes and assessing programme impacts.
* Preparing Time Impact Analyses to support compensation events.
You’ll Need To Have
* Extensive planning experience in live airport environments, ideally with a Tier 1 main contractor.
* Proven track record in managing delivery and installation programmes within UK airports.
* Strong knowledge of airport baggage systems, including installation, testing, and commissioning.
* Deep understanding of NEC3/4 contracts and programme management.
* Expertise in Earned Value Management and detailed monthly reporting.
* A proactive mindset with a desire to learn and grow.
* Strong digital skills and the ability to build lasting client relationships.
* Experience on large‑scale projects/programmes.
* Relevant degree in construction or project management.
* Ideally working towards professional qualifications (e.g., APM, PMI, CIOB).
* Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Office, and NEC contract frameworks.
* Fit‑out experience and a background in delivery – ideally from a construction or project management background.
You’ll Also Have
* Proficient knowledge and expertise in specific sector/market of project/role.
* Relevant technical qualification/certification for project portfolio/s.
* Sound technical expertise in health and safety executive (HSE) (or local equivalent) rules and specific sector/market regulations relevant to project/portfolio.
* Knowledge of consultancy, construction, infrastructure and property sectors/markets and an understanding of estimating, scheduling, contracts administration, procurement, commercial controls and reporting.
